Particularly regarding Instagram and Social Media. I think far too many people fall in to the trap of thinking that Instagram is a really key tool in becoming a successful photographer – when I started out I could spend hours trying to build my following, and even became an admin on a feature page for a while. Now, I barely post for my professional work – maybe once per week.

I also really agree with the point about not letting your style be influenced by others – my business only took off once I set my own style rather than trying to fit my style to what everybody else thought it should be. It is much easier to connect with people that like your style once you stop trying to please everyone.
