When I got an email saying that the creators behind BlogStomp had created AlbumStomp, a software for putting albums together quickly, I knew I had to check it out! One of my favorite ways to print my personal photos is to put them into albums. I also create a lot of albums for my wedding clients. I love saving time and am always looking for the fastest way to put together a beautiful album.
After I downloaded the free trial version of AlbumStomp, it was really easy to see how much time it is going to save me. Just like BlogStomp, you literally drag your images into the software. You can drag them from Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, PhotoMechanic, Finder, iPhoto, etc. and it will place the images into the album for you.
You can mix the images up and change things as much or as little as you want. AlbumStomp also allows you to have complete control of the design – you do not need to use the templates if they don’t fit the style you are after. You can decide where the images go and you can simply double click an image to swap it into another location. It really is that easy!
Let’s talk about the design options that are available. I really love minimalist designs, but sometimes it is nice to add a thin border or a stroke to the images, depending on the design. Included in AlbumStomp are sliders that are so easy to use to control all of the design elements you will need. You can even control the margins with the sliders.
When you are finished, it exports the album design in high-resolution layouts that you can use with any print lab or album manufacturer.
AlbumStomp also has an optional add-on called AlbumPrufr. It is a very easy way for your clients to proof their album design online. Not only can they see each page of the album, they can also leave feedback right underneath each layout. I love how it keeps the clients’ notes right with each page making the revisions a piece of cake. AlbumPrufr is available as a yearly subscription and you can have up to 20 album proofs at the same time.
If you have been looking for a quick and easy album solution, I would encourage you to download the free trial of AlbumStomp and see if it is for you! It is compatible with a Mac and a PC and it is only $99. If you currently own BlogStomp, you can grab it with a loyalty discount for only $49. AlbumPrufr is available for $49 per year.
Hi Rachel, I got the email a while ago too but haven’t got round to downloading it. It does look really good and I wonder if you know if I would be able to use it with Blurb BookSmart? Do you have to set page dimensions etc. for the layouts / chosen book or how does it work when you import into your chosen album design software?
Many thanks, Inga x
Hi Inga! Yes, you can use it with any album company and set the dimensions for the book you want to print through Blurb (or anywhere else). I would save the high res jpegs and then upload it right into Blurb’s booksmart software as a full bleed photo. Definitely download the trial and give it a try! 🙂
As a long-time blogstomp user as well, I immediately purchased AlbumStomp and it’s amazing! I don’t offer client albums, but I make yearly albums for my own family through Blurb and this software has been a valuable time saver in getting those books started for last year’s pictures. Love it!
